My name is Howard Durfee. I am originally from Laramie, Wyoming, and currently work in the Advanced Diesel department of WyoTech, though I have worked in all four corners in the Diesel Core department. I am Volvo/Mack certified and ASE master certified. I have lived in Laramie most of my life, having been born and raised here. I lived in California for 4 years while I was in the Marine Corps. After leaving the Marines, I returned to Laramie and have worked at repair shops and ranches around the area. I always liked working on trucks and heavy equipment when I was younger, which lead me to getting my Class A Driver's license and driving over the road for 3 years. In 1999, I started work at Lafarge North America, driving a truck at first. After about 3 months, I was moved to the repair shop at Taft Hill in Fort Collins, Colorado. In 2002, Lafarge encouraged me to attend WyoTech to further my education. After graduating from WyoTech, I returned to work for Lafarge as a technician working at the Laramie Plant. In 2011 I was given the chance to work at WyoTech as a Diesel Instructor. I love working with the students and teaching them. When I see a student's eyes light up when they understand how a system on the truck works, that makes my day. Just knowing that I am helping teach the next generation of technicians in the industry is what makes this job rewarding.
