May 9, 2025

Driven by an early and profound fascination with automobiles, Cole Venard cultivated his passion for the mechanical arts from a young age. Growing up in a close-knit community, his formative years were spent immersed in the intricacies of cars, trucks, and various motorized equipment, often finding himself engaged in hands-on work. Upon graduating high school in 2005, Cole possessed a clear vision for his professional trajectory: specialized technical education. WyoTech, renowned for its comprehensive automotive programs and conveniently located approximately six hours from his hometown, emerged as the logical and compelling choice for his advanced studies.
During his intensive year at WyoTech, Cole demonstrated a strong commitment to acquiring a comprehensive understanding of vehicle mechanics and customization. His curriculum focused primarily on automotive technology, complemented by specialized training in hot rod and custom paint techniques. He further broadened his skill set by undertaking an elective in upholstery. Cole’s objective was clear: to develop a holistic mastery of vehicles, encompassing all aspects from structural components to interior finishes.
Following his graduation, Cole successfully transitioned into the highly competitive world of monster truck racing. He began his career as a technician for a prominent team within the sport. His technical acumen and unwavering dedication quickly distinguished him, positioning him for rapid professional advancement within the industry.
However, in December 2010, Cole faced a significant personal challenge. A severe motorcycle accident resulted in numerous injuries, the most critical being to his left leg, ultimately necessitating amputation. For many, such a setback could have signaled the end of their professional aspirations. Yet, for Cole, this adversity became another obstacle to overcome with characteristic resolve.
Demonstrating remarkable physical and mental fortitude, Mr. Venard returned to the monster truck industry with renewed determination. His perseverance was validated in 2013 when he was honored as the “Monster Jam Technician of the Year”, a testament to his crucial role in his team’s consecutive racing championships.
After years of consistently proving his expertise as a leading technician, Cole realized a long-held ambition: the opportunity to drive a legendary monster truck, “Grave Digger”. Despite the inherent challenges of operating a 12,000-pound vehicle with a prosthetic leg, Cole not only competed but excelled, securing two consecutive series championships and establishing himself as an elite driver within the sport.
Driven by an entrepreneurial spirit, Cole aspired to create his own independent venture. He made the pivotal decision to depart from a corporate team to pursue the development of his own monster truck from the ground up. This creation, named “The Black Pearl”, embodies the culmination of his experiences and triumphs.
Cole Venard’s professional journey is a compelling narrative of resilience, deep-seated passion, and unwavering determination. From his early experiences as a small-town mechanic to his achievements as an elite technician and world-champion driver, and ultimately to the creation of his own legacy truck, Cole’s story underscores the power of perseverance in the face of adversity. His trajectory serves as a powerful illustration that seemingly insurmountable challenges can be overcome through unwavering commitment and an indomitable spirit.
