Alumni Spotlight- November 2023

November 3, 2023

Robert M. Kennedy is using his education at WyoTech to truly forge his own unique path and make his name in the industry. Prior to his graduation from WyoTech in the spring of 2000, Robert attended the WyoTech Career Fair and interviewed with Park Place dealerships from Dallas, Texas. Starting with Park Place Porsche right out of school, Robert worked as a Porsche Premier Technician through the summer of 2004, before moving to Omaha to date the woman who would later become his wife. Once married, the couple started a personal fitness training business (Kennedy Fitness) and had two boys.

While the COVID-19 pandemic hindered a lot of peoples’ careers in 2020, Robert’s took off. With their gym temporarily shut down due to quarantine measures, Robert wrote and produced Adapt or Die: The Mustang II Story, a “zero-budget” documentary film about Ford’s second-generation Mustang. Things skyrocketed from there.

“I posted the documentary to YouTube – and it went viral,” Robert says. “Within a few weeks, John Clor, the Enthusiast Communications Manager for Ford Performance called me, gushing about how good it was. Three weeks later, John was taking us to dinner at Ford’s Garage in Dearborn – and offering me a job!”

John hired Robert as a contributing writer for – and persuaded him to write a book. Three and a half years later, Robert has now published several articles for the FP site, and his book was released at the Mustang Club of America’s “Race to Indy” on July 28, 2023. Since then, UNBRIDLED: The Passion, Performance and Politics Behind America’s Favorite Pony Car (which details the development, production, and racing history behind all seven generations of Ford’s steel steed) has sold nearly 600 copies. Robert is currently on a national book tour, and has already visited Indianapolis, Ford World Headquarters in Dearborn, the Sturgis Mustang Rally, the Holley Ford Festival, and more.
