Mathis, JD
Program Coordinator
My name is JD Mathis. I was born and raised in Laramie, WY. During my junior high and high school years I worked for local ranchers, at WyoTech in their fab shop and facilities maintenance, and I worked for a local excavation company as a laborer and equipment operator. After finishing high school, I went to Eastern Wyoming College for instruction in Welding and Joining Technology. While attending EWC, I met my future wife. During college I worked in welding and fabrication shops and day worked as a ranch hand. After graduating college, my family and I moved to North Dakota where I worked in construction before joining the United States Marine Corps in March 2003. I spent 10 years in the USMC holding several positions in the helicopter aviation field to include: mechanic, maintenance controller, quality assurance representative, shop supervisor, and helicopter mechanics instructor. Following my military career, I was employed with the Wyoming Dept. of Transportation (WYDOT) from November 2013 through June 2022. While employed at WYDOT, I held 5 different positions to include: Highway Maintenance Technician and Equipment Operator, Mechanic, District Maintenance Staff Technician, District Facilities Manager, and Area Maintenance Supervisor. In June 2022, I was offered a position with WyoTech to coordinate getting some new training programs started. I accepted the position with WyoTech and started a new adventure with a great company.
