WyoTech Success Story - John Olson - Mercedes Benz
Here is some information about
John Olson - Mercedes Benz
Graduated in 2001 in the Automotive Technology Core Program
I am currently working as a technician at a Mercedes Benz dealership in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
WyoTech gave me a broad knowledge of automobiles. I was fortunate to work and learn under many instructors there, one being Bob Lohmann who was very knowledgeable and personable. His approach to teaching "brought home" the need to work hard but enjoy life along the way. WyoTech helped us develop a strong work ethic and good habits of attendance and punctuality on the job.
As far as my short and long term goals, I can see myself working towards a Master Guild with Mercedes. I may even go into teaching someday.
A typical day on the job includes a variety of challenges. The Mercedes dealership is so high tech, you have to be efficient on the computer. All jobs are pulled from the computer; work done, recommendations and comments are logged in. Any return cars with continued problems are also logged in so you want to do the job right the first time around and build a good work reputation.
The dealership had me shadow and work alongside ther technicians when I first started. They trained me on their computer set up and programs. It's a great group of people with mixed personalities and a lot of knowledge.
The learning did not end at school, but continues in my work every day. People here are always willing to help each other out. If you can't figure out what's wrong with the car you're working on there's always someone you can work with to solve the problem.
