What is Accreditation?
Accreditation is a distinction granted to any institution meeting or exceeding the stated criteria of educational quality. The purposes of accreditation include:

  • Assess and enhance the educational quality of an institution.
  • Assure consistency in institutional operations.
  • Promote institutional improvement.
  • Provide for public accountability.


Why is it important to you?

Accreditation affects you by providing for the responsibility of an institution and assuring prospective and current students of the following:

  • It is recognized as a qualified institution of higher learning with approved programs of study that meet recognized academic standards.
  • It employs a professional staff.
  • It has sufficient facilities and equipment.
  • It is a stable and permanent fixture in the educational community.
This school voluntarily undergoes periodic accrediting evaluations by teams of qualified examiners including subject experts and specialists in occupational education and private school administration.

  • WyoTech is authorized by the Washington Higher Education Coordinating Board (HECB) and meets the requirements and minimum educational standards established for degree-granting institutions under the Degree-Granting Institutions Act. This authorization is subject to periodic review and authorizes WyoTech to advertise and recruit for the following degree programs: Associate in Specialized Technology in Automotive Technology and Management; Associate in Specialized Technology in Automotive Technology with Motorsports Chassis Fabrication and Management; Associate in Specialized Technology in Automotive Technology with Street Rod and Management; Associate in Specialized Technology in Collision/Refinishing Technology and Management; Associate in Specialized Technology in Collision/Refinishing Technology with Motorsports Chassis Fabrication and Management; Associate in Specialized Technology in Collision/Refinishing Technology with Street Rod and Management; and Associate in Specialized Technology in Diesel Technology and Management. Authorization by the HECB does not carry with it an endorsement by the board of the institution or its programs.
